Pinoy Kungfu Terms
Suntok - Punch, uses hands as weapons to inflict pain on a combatant.
Sipa - Kick, uses feet and/or legs as weapons during fights.
Hirapan natin...
Batok - To hit a person on the back of the head usually at the area that joins the spine and the skull or at least at the back of the neck. This move is traditionally confused when hitting a person in the forehead hence the popular argument:
Victim: Ba't mo ko binatukan??!!!
Attacker: Anong binatukan ?!! eh sa noo ka tinamaan tanga?!!
This is usually a blow that is best delivered using a rolled up newspaper. Also this blow can only be delivered with one hand.
Dagok - Delivered using a roundouse open palm strike to the back of the head making the victim lounge forward or lose balance. The blow should be hit above the neck to clearly differentiate it with a "Batok" .
Hampas - To hit a victim with a flat surfaced object. Commons mediums for the blow are an open palm strike, a newspaper rolled at the handle but flat at the edge, a fan or a flyswatter. The blow itself should only be delivered with medial or weak force . A stronger blow would reclassify it to another term. The blow can only be done with a flat weapon as well, for example : if you hit a person with a newspaper with its contact end flattened it is consered as a "hampas" but if you roll the newspaper completely it is considered as a palo. However there are some moves where in you can hit with a swooping motion thereby covering a big area then that can still be considered a "hampas".
Konyat - Hitting a persons head by forming the Cats Claw motion on your hand then raising your middle finger while still bent forming an FU sign with fingers folded. The motion should be swooping like dipping your fingers in a cake but stronger with fingers folded. The blow should be on the top of the head. Classic masters who delivers this move were the 3 stooges.
Pompyang - (Thanks Mike) To hit the ears of the victim with roundhouse blows from both hands using ang open palm strike at the same time. This will cause extreme pain on the victim according to filipino movies and made famous by pinoy action heroes.
Tadyak - Kicking forward and hitting the victim with the bottom of your feet. This should not be confused with Sipa as sipa involves contact with the top part of the feet.
Aluluran - (thanks jopoy) A strike to the persons chin. Best Results are by using long weapons such as 2x2 or baseball bats. Also a long weapon is needed since it going to be pretty difficult to hit someone with a short weapon like a ruler or something. Syet mga nakaka 10 palo ka na siguro di pa rin tumitiklop ang victim kung maiksi ang pamalo mo.
Sikad - A form of kick but in swooping motions, usually delivered with fast yet weak force. Usually a form of warning , it is best executed with Annoying Dogs and other small creatures.
Hambalos - A blow using hands with strong force. The weapon of choice are usually big and heavy weapons which tends to overwhelm victims. Recommended weapons are big fruits like patola , or using a palanggana or kaldero. Using a palo palo is also effective . A Hambalos usually results in the victim falling down.
Kaltok - Using a knocking motion, the blow is delivered either to the top of the head or at the forehead with the usual words "MMM!!!"
Kurot - Known in english as the Pinch, it is usually delivered by women specially mothers and teachers. It could be taken as a sign of friendship or flirtation when done mildly or a sign of anger when done with strong force. It is usually delivered on ears, arms, sides and the bestseller of all is the genital area. The usual cry of victims who receives this forceful blow is "Hindi na po ako uulit!!"
Naboga - to be hit by either 2 fingers or hands clasp together while you are unknowingly bending over. Usually done by children , a person bending over to pickup something will unknowingly be attacked by friends who would clasp ther hands and thrusting it towards the persons anus area or coccyx. There are common hand techniques for this blow:
The fish - positioning the hands together as if praying .
The battering ram - clasping the together, interlocking the fingers but exposing the knuckles .
The Ninja. clasping the fingers together but exposing the index fingers or even including the middle finger.
This blow is usually followed by the victim shouting "Arekup!" then a jumping motion.
Binayagan - Obviously can only be received by a male victim , any blow towards his testicular area is determined as such. However there are times , inorder to make explanations easier, a knee to a womens pelvic region can also be described as binayagan.
For example a woman is knee'd on her pelvic region , people would say "naku nabayagan ang babae" this is more appropriate to hear instead of "naku napukehan yung babae" .. panget pakinggan talaga although it is more correct.
.. pls add in the comments area if you think of other terms. I'll try to research on how to properly deliver the blow thank you.
To cap it off, the legendary pinoy kungfu , known by our fathers will always be immortlized in old jokes... Sayonachi.
