Lessons on Mortality

I remember before I had a teacher in high school, he was one of the coolest english teachers we had , he had an earing, long hair and loves to swear. Syempre non it wasnt normal to see your teacher from a catholic school swearing and stuff, he was elevated to totally cool status by the students. He raved before for almost 3 classes about a movie he saw, the movie was "My Life" starring Michael Keaton. He then went on raving about living life as if every day was your last etc etc. Being a teenager then , I thought that was such a great idea..a profound way to live by.. Carpe Diem! Go and see what life has to offer! So ano ginawa ko.. nanood ako ng sine.. medyo anticlimactic pero big deal na yon non nung teenager ako.

And so years passed with a lot of movies having the same theme as well, city of angels, bigfish etc.. I still believe in that saying but I never really felt the reality of it until 2yrs ago and made a lot stronger just a month ago.

2 Yrs ago I nearly died in a car accident.. same thing that happend to Senator Saguisag.. I was turning left while a truck ignored the stoplight hit the driver side of the car . Thank goodness for God's help and a few guardian angels im still here blogging. That was actually got me blogging.. I've had a lot of experience over the years I needed to tell my story . Anyway im drifting.. a couple of weeks ago a series of events happened that made me think of mortality in general. During the Glorietta Explosion I was there when it happened , luckily I was in Glorietta 4, I heard the big explosion and felt the ground move , followed by shrieks of people running from the blast. We were able to get out unscathed, then a day later we heard the terrible news that 3 people who used to work from our office died there. One was a wife of a friend. Then we saw the footages, you know the type thats like war pictures , bodies filled with dirt being carried off.. the sad part was that one of the pictures was that of my friends wife and you can discern her face. She was around my age and I remember her always smiling. After that incident I started saying to myself maybe I wasnt really living my life to fast after all.

A few weeks past I heard another terrible news, a model friend who I took pictures off died horribly. She appeared to be a salvage victim, body found in a sack with 3 others, hands bound , face covered. She was 18. One of the theories is that she got caught in the Franc Swiss scam.

Then just a few days ago, I was talking to another friend.. pramis hindi ako malas na kaibigan at parang kung anu ano nangyayari sa friends ko.. anyway.. we were talking about this other friend we have.. this guy was rich, as in rich mga dudes, almost my age pero very successful . He was given 5 years to live yet he has beaten the odds, he is now 6 years alive and kicking from his diagnosis.

I told my friend as I was in shock ..siguro pag ganon, The quality of life you live ang importante na. How you live each day. But you would never know when your time will come kahit may taning ka na or sabihin mo na healthy living ka and you keep safe at home always life will always have a start and an end, what we do in between is important. Medyo parang gasgas na ang lines na to. Im not saying go and join greenpeace kasi medyo indi madali yon.. at kanya kanya tayong trip.. ako di ko kaya yon. Pero my opinion is that we should always strive to see if we can give more quality to our lives. More quality for me is to be better at the things you do , and make others lives a little better. More quality would be different for each person.. baka more time with the family is more quality na or to experience new things which I believe in as well is another sign of living a quality life.. as long as we dont get stuck , stop or worst not even try improving the quality of life we live, then we are really cherishing the life that we have. My opinon.
