diet

suddenly had night cravings and thought about eating the same thing again for the past possibly decade. The way I figure it, our body is superbly designed to handle most of anything in moderation. The more we take in the longer our body takes to recover or our body adapats or worst breaks down. For example if you've been drinking coke everyday for the past 10 years your body develops and becomes contaminated with the sugar hence diabetes, eat bbq every day you get colon cancer but eat it once every few weeks and our body can burn it off. So If only I can continuously eat different things and vary between health and unhealthy and I guess i'll be a little healthier.. pero bukas ko na lang sisimulan kakatamad magiba pa ng kakainin. Cheese sandwich and milk sana wala akong ma form na sakit.

Goodbye NU107

I read the newspaper this morning and saw the latest pictures of the NU107 rock awards in the lifestyle section, I had a big sigh on my way to the bathroom... "another rock awards missed". I've went to 2 rock awards before and man they were fun , different, with a tinge of danger and were terribly entertaining at the same time, but this time it was different, on the column it said it was the last rock awards. While driving on the way to do an errand , I turned on the radio as I usually do and pressed 6 on the memory button to access 107.5 as I have ritually done for 18 years. But today was different, today the DJ's were all saying goodbye, talking about the good old days and their fondest memories on air. Listeners we're calling , someone called saying because of NU she took up broadcasting, all the regular shows were saying their farewells as NU would be making its final airing on sunday.

I was shocked, and suddenly remembered how old I was, there were listeners now who weren't even born when I started listening. I remember I started listening to NU when burning things on disc was done in a chemistry laboratoryand copying to a stick means absolutely nothing. I drove an old boxtype liftback Corolla we called dimples because of the holes back in the 90s, my whole barkada all 10 of them would fit in the car, and we would run to Centerpoint with station number 6 on the speed dial, 107.5 ,playing on the radio while dodging thru espana. The Dawn , the Eraserheads, The Youth... back then they called it underground not indie and it was only NU who had the balls to play them on air. They were then until now unapologetic and held art over commercialism. They played stuff out of the norms and didn't care whether the businessmen think this is not what the public wants and this is not whats the latest rave in Los Angeles. I took NU107 as a model for individuality and artistic integrity. Doing things against the flow, not afraid to try something new, not sticking with tried and tested formulas these were the things I saw in NU while I was growing up , it was my kinda station and they played great rock music too! While other statoins played Pearl Jam's Daughter and everyone thought it was a love song .. they played Pearl Jam's Animal.

NU had some of the best talk shows , I listened to Jake and Joey in my dad's car on our way to school, It was a cool thing to see your dad listen to NU instead of AM news. 18 years later its now all coming to an end, so what do I do now , what station do I set number 6 on, to make matters worst my new-2nd hand car(its a 2000 model) doesnt have mp3 just a cassette and a changer at the back so I rely a lot these days on the radio for in car entertainment. When I hit 30 I told my self I'll try to keep up with the latest music trends so I dont hit the generation gap with my younger staff too early. NU usually played the latest , coolest rock music so I know Ill always be updated ..now what? Goodbye NU 107, thank you for keepin me company all those years. I think because of NU , Filipino music continued to flourish and even evolve, and not end up like what happend to the local movie industry. Hopefully NU doesn't end up like those 80s and 90s movies where a rock radio station will be converted to a easy listening or new age station in the name of commerce. Keep that artistic integrity alive.

Laos na salita

Kanina on the way home me naalala akong salita na super tagal ko ng di naririnig...di na kasi uso.. "chicken feed" .. to mean na super dali.. kayang kaya. sabagay 80s word yon or baka earlier pa. Ngayon meron ng "panis" or mas bago na "chika" na yan. siguro ang "chicken feed" eh kasabay ng "wow pare heavy" . la lang naisip ko lang..

Rants on politics

Just Ranting...

Was havin a discussion about how bad the politicians where. Using of funds for flood control for extravagant overseas trips, railroading of impeachment complaints.. thank God we are the Land of People Power as the government would certainly screw up the relief effort. There are a lot of government officials whom corporations would not touch with a 10foot pole to be a line manager in their organizations. Sana ang next batch of leaders we have this coming elections hindi na yung isip kagaya ng dati.. I doubt if we'll ever be like Singapore who had the masterful idea of giving high salaries for Government officials to attract the best of the best, I think we're too far off and we'll endup paying or giving unworthy people even more money. I pray this elections we get a new batch of leaders whose mindset is "I'd like to lead in Government so people can see how good I am on what I can do", para ipagyabang ang galing nila ba. Like if a person is a great organizer and leader, or a person with great foresight, that person would run and lead to show that I am the best of the best of what I do. Parang Ill go sa government kasi yon ang pinnacle to show how good I am. Kasi my opinion now is that ang mindset ng tatakbo is.. "Im running kasi I want to be in power, and i'll probably not make it on any other field, with power, people looks up to me" . I dont agree anymore on persons runnning on the mindset of "Gusto ko tumulong" , too many has said so pero panay ningas cogon lang, kasi after tumulong , wala na , coudln't do the other work that needs to be done. Best case scenario is "I want to run because I want to make things better and I know how to do it" pero.. parang wala atang ganon at mahirap makahanap ng ganon. Jaded na ko kasi ok na ko too have really smart and talented leaders who get the job done but might steal..rather than getting the inept one's who also steals. Parang ang hirap kasi makahanap ng magaling at mabait... Marcos was smart pero he didnt get the Job done..and hindi rin sya mabait...so dont mistake him for what I'm describing. We need someone who can get our country working like a well oiled world class corporation.. walang nasasayang..2 steps ahead magisip, may synergy, may process, may quality, may constant improvement, optimized, lahat ng growth potential ineexplore... Kung pwede lang maghire .. patak patak tayo lahat .. kuha tayo ng magaling na CEO. Performance evaluation lahat ng barangay captain, mayor, congressmen..sino over budget, sino walang growth potential, sino ang laging in the RED..FIRED! mga lumang sistema? low productivity.. i-retire and bili ng bago, go Green! haay wala lang.. kung magsalita ako as if its that easy.. just ranting kasi been reading lots of stuff on facebook on various political controversies ..kung kailan kaka disaster pa! Tulog time.

Sa tao ng jollibee the Fort at atbp

Saturday, during the eve of storm Ondoy, we went to The fort to grab dinner as there was no electricity in Makati, hoping that there was an open resto . Jollibee was still open and there was a lot of customers waiting. As usual orders were backing up as that branch surely was working on a skeletal crew and had no deliveries from the Commisary. I don't know wether they were still open for humanitarian reasons or financial as it was only them and pancake house that were still operational(incidentally that same pancake house was the only one open during milenyo) , but we were really thankful they were still open. Who I would really like to commend was the staff of that Jollibee for doing their best to serve everyone there. Customers there were the one's who live nearby and looking for some sort of temporary relief as they probably are not able to cook or had to stop by for dinner before marching on to their homes , or those who were stranded in their offices in the Fort Area . Imagine getting an overflow of customers, all tired , hungry , wet , frustrated, and all filled with anxiety wether theyre homes , families and friends are safe. And I bet the crew were feeling the same anxiety and fatigue , and yet some of the crew were still flashing that same old Jollibee smile ,and there was even one guy running ..literally flying as he was jumping over the few steps in the dining area just so he could come back quickly to the counter to get the next batch of orders delivered. Their dedication to the customers were exemplary. You could really feel the tension in the air , thank fully there were only a few customers who were bitching , in front of us in line was one who was complaining why her order wasnt their yet. Maybe the stressed has gotten into her , we dont know. Normally if your order took too long you follow up and if it takes longer you complain, but not during a calamity! Be thankful that they are still serving and not telling you to take a hike , wade thru flood waters ,and get your meal somewhere else. I could see the frustration on the cashiers face as the customer blabbed on about how her order is taking so long and the cashier tried her best to pacify her. I imagine the cashier probably worrying wether everyone in her family was safe or her parents texting her to come home , and dealing with a complaining customer was the last thing on her mind. There were better customers whose orders were terribly delayed but didnt throw a fit, luckily our orders didnt take too long. Kudos to the dedication of that branch's staff.

I heard from my friend whose house was badly flooded in Marikina that local stores and bakeries were still open as the flood waters were rising just so they can provide supplies to the people nearby. Tinderos would be trying to keep their balance in flooded stores just so they can sell out much needed supplies. Hats off to them. Hats off to the guys who kept things running ,as seeing any semblance of order and basic services in times of catastrophe really raises some hopes for those badly affected. That was what my friend said as he moved to a 2nd floor construction area of a neighbor in marikina. He is now ok and cleaning up what he has left.
