Ang reason ng Grouping sa Scooby Doo

Was watchin tv around 10pm , same old channel surfing then I ended up watching scooby Doo on the cartoon network. Same old formula of course , there was mysterious toys coming to lift in a mall so they have to solve it. The episode seems to be new because of the new colors on the animation, then they tried something different...

As usual Fred would always says..lets split up and search for clues, Scooby and Shaggy would windup together and Fred would end up with the girls. Shaggy on this episode..protested.. Now that was different.. he said everytime they group up they endup finding the ghost and getting chased. So Thelma did the grouping and she grouped with Daphne and scooby then Fred went with Shaggy.

Now this is where I thought things finally cleared up , while Shaggy and Fred were walking together, they tried to do small talk.. I aint a big fan so I wasnt sure if this was the first time Fred and Shaggy grouped up . Fred Said "So What do you think of the Game?", Shaggy said he doesnt like sports. Shaggy Asked "Wanna get some snacks?" Fred said he wasn't hungry then there was silence.. The two guys got bored and found nothing much in common, so they said "Lets never group again?" Fred said "Yeah" .. Voila! Hence the great mystery explained, why every time Fred says "Lets Split up and search for clues" Its always shaggy and scooby. And I've been watching scooby doo since I was 5 thats 25 years...coolness.

Naisip ko lang, langyang Shaggy at Fred na to tagal tagal na magkasama eh wala pa ring bonding..siguro common friend lang nila ang 2 girls.

Singapore Revisited

Grabe this week has been turning out to be a long one. I've had a few blogs in mind the past few weeks, just haven't gotten around to making them. Here's one...

3 weeks ago I went to Singapore to attend a conference for work. I've been to singapore thrice, around 2 to 3 years apart and everytime I went there I didnt enjoy it. Dont get me wrong, its a great city, probably one of the best in Asia..super clean, very safe, very disciplined, great workplace, great transpo. But for me not much fun.

I agree with my friend Don who I visited there, its a great place to raise a family, but the last 2 times I went there, I saw Singapore as a place like a big mall, everything manufactured or imported, like a big plot of land then you suddenly put a brand spanking new mall. I dont find this bad, its a show of how rich the country is, its a good thing, a very good thing. Just not fun for my personal taste. I like places that are deep rooted , I find places like that more fun. Like a restaurant that started from a grandmothers kitchen, made the worlds best cookie then started feeding the neighborhood kids then starts get more customers well thats the picture and you would go to places like this and once in a while grandma herself would be serving you the cookies.

The first 2 times I went to Singapore I usually went to the tourist areas, thats probably why the city didn't endear to me. My idea then of a normal night out or a normal family day was going to the mall or going to a night club which was built a few months ago and would probably be closed a year after. For my taste, that wasn't much fun, then it all changed during my last trip. Syet ang haba ng prologue ko sorry.

Everytime I went abroad I like to walk around the city I'm in, I finally did that in Singapore and found a lot of good things to like. I was wrong about the city. I started walking from my hotel and brought precious my camera along. First thing I noticed was the colorful houses, probably old chinese houses or new ones made to look like old ones, like something out of the 20's and 30's. Like the Victorian houses of Sanfo.

I then walked a bit farther and found myself in a peculiar place, a flea market of old stuff. I never imagined a place like that in Singapore where nice and shiny malls are like basketballs are to the Philippines. Locals would bring there old or collector stuff, family computers, old appliances, old records and other some bordering on junk to treasures for collectors. I guess you can bargain for them. All walks of people where there , people who lived nearby to people arriving in cars ... and cars are expensive in singapore.

Walked a little further and found myself in little india, shops and small cafes on alleys . places where you can drink beer with your neighbors and watch TV. There where a lot of small shops as well selling curious items just like the market area I saw in Bangalore.

Thinking about it I probably missed all this things on my first few trips because I was riding the train or cab all the while. I didn't bother to checkout the places where the locals go, I was in a hurry and didnt take the time to slow down and get to know the place a bit more. I would have walked a lot longer kaso age factor.. had to walk back again to the hotel pero it was definitely enough to change my view . Its not that a flea market is the coolest thing in the world or an unairconditioned beer joint is the place to be pero places like that where the owners or waiters know you by your name are places on my opinion that gives a place ...character.

Pinoy Kungfu Terms

Suntok - Punch, uses hands as weapons to inflict pain on a combatant.
Sipa - Kick, uses feet and/or legs as weapons during fights.

Hirapan natin...

Batok - To hit a person on the back of the head usually at the area that joins the spine and the skull or at least at the back of the neck. This move is traditionally confused when hitting a person in the forehead hence the popular argument:
Victim: Ba't mo ko binatukan??!!!
Attacker: Anong binatukan ?!! eh sa noo ka tinamaan tanga?!!

This is usually a blow that is best delivered using a rolled up newspaper. Also this blow can only be delivered with one hand.

Dagok - Delivered using a roundouse open palm strike to the back of the head making the victim lounge forward or lose balance. The blow should be hit above the neck to clearly differentiate it with a "Batok" .

Hampas - To hit a victim with a flat surfaced object. Commons mediums for the blow are an open palm strike, a newspaper rolled at the handle but flat at the edge, a fan or a flyswatter. The blow itself should only be delivered with medial or weak force . A stronger blow would reclassify it to another term. The blow can only be done with a flat weapon as well, for example : if you hit a person with a newspaper with its contact end flattened it is consered as a "hampas" but if you roll the newspaper completely it is considered as a palo. However there are some moves where in you can hit with a swooping motion thereby covering a big area then that can still be considered a "hampas".

Konyat - Hitting a persons head by forming the Cats Claw motion on your hand then raising your middle finger while still bent forming an FU sign with fingers folded. The motion should be swooping like dipping your fingers in a cake but stronger with fingers folded. The blow should be on the top of the head. Classic masters who delivers this move were the 3 stooges.

Pompyang - (Thanks Mike) To hit the ears of the victim with roundhouse blows from both hands using ang open palm strike at the same time. This will cause extreme pain on the victim according to filipino movies and made famous by pinoy action heroes.

Tadyak - Kicking forward and hitting the victim with the bottom of your feet. This should not be confused with Sipa as sipa involves contact with the top part of the feet.

Aluluran - (thanks jopoy) A strike to the persons chin. Best Results are by using long weapons such as 2x2 or baseball bats. Also a long weapon is needed since it going to be pretty difficult to hit someone with a short weapon like a ruler or something. Syet mga nakaka 10 palo ka na siguro di pa rin tumitiklop ang victim kung maiksi ang pamalo mo.

Sikad - A form of kick but in swooping motions, usually delivered with fast yet weak force. Usually a form of warning , it is best executed with Annoying Dogs and other small creatures.

Hambalos - A blow using hands with strong force. The weapon of choice are usually big and heavy weapons which tends to overwhelm victims. Recommended weapons are big fruits like patola , or using a palanggana or kaldero. Using a palo palo is also effective . A Hambalos usually results in the victim falling down.

Kaltok - Using a knocking motion, the blow is delivered either to the top of the head or at the forehead with the usual words "MMM!!!"

Kurot - Known in english as the Pinch, it is usually delivered by women specially mothers and teachers. It could be taken as a sign of friendship or flirtation when done mildly or a sign of anger when done with strong force. It is usually delivered on ears, arms, sides and the bestseller of all is the genital area. The usual cry of victims who receives this forceful blow is "Hindi na po ako uulit!!"

Naboga - to be hit by either 2 fingers or hands clasp together while you are unknowingly bending over. Usually done by children , a person bending over to pickup something will unknowingly be attacked by friends who would clasp ther hands and thrusting it towards the persons anus area or coccyx. There are common hand techniques for this blow:
The fish - positioning the hands together as if praying .
The battering ram - clasping the together, interlocking the fingers but exposing the knuckles .
The Ninja. clasping the fingers together but exposing the index fingers or even including the middle finger.

This blow is usually followed by the victim shouting "Arekup!" then a jumping motion.

Binayagan - Obviously can only be received by a male victim , any blow towards his testicular area is determined as such. However there are times , inorder to make explanations easier, a knee to a womens pelvic region can also be described as binayagan.

For example a woman is knee'd on her pelvic region , people would say "naku nabayagan ang babae" this is more appropriate to hear instead of "naku napukehan yung babae" .. panget pakinggan talaga although it is more correct.

.. pls add in the comments area if you think of other terms. I'll try to research on how to properly deliver the blow thank you.

To cap it off, the legendary pinoy kungfu , known by our fathers will always be immortlized in old jokes... Sayonachi.

Hypothe..HypoTe.. What if Scenario na lang - World Peace

Again I'm really amazed at the different places and events i've been because of Photography.

Yesterday I got a photo gig for a 25th wedding anniversary. I found out when I got there that it was actually a SUPRISE wedding , the children , one from Dubai and one from Hongkong arrived in the evening and early in the morning then met up with me and my friend randy at the lobby of their condo. The plan: go up to their condo and greet their parents who had no idea they were in the country. We were there to capture the moment. Pucha mega panic ako kasi di ko alam na ganun.. I didnt bring my fast lens and everything.. well bahala na si batman..andon na eh.

Ayun akyat kami.. pasok sila sa condo tapos paglabas ng mom and dad nila super saya at suprised... mega higpit ang yakap sa 2 anak. Like something out of a movie.. I really felt how lucky I was to see something like this. The day was full of suprises for their parents, they had no idea that there was a full ceremony, preparation and wedding reception waiting for them at Fernwood QC(The condo was at makati). Tapos Aside from the reception, the children organized special performances like song numbers and dance number for relatives. Tapos pati relatives from india ng groom whom he hasnt seen for a long while went there. Grabe Love was truly the theme fro the day, from morning til night. Siguro kung tatanungin ang parents ano ang macoconsider nila na perfect day.. that would be one of them.

What had me thinking was during the ceremony, both parents where Catholic, the dad was indian and the mom was filipina, the ceremony had additional steps.. there was a catholic priest pero aside from the traditional ceremony of our weddings there was a washing of the feet , a ceremony of pouring sand to a glass container and a ceremony of fire. Im not sure kung baka dahil 25th anniversary , renewal ng vows , eh very lax ang priest.. pero yung nga.. lets just think..in the future.. kunwari na lang sa Pilipinas, Hypothetical lang, what if Mixed marriages becomes one of the key factor to world peace. Wala lang .. mga cool siguro thoughts.. I mean sa pinas the number of mixed marriages is heavily on the rise. We have half japanese or half European, Half korean, half chinese, half indian, half arab, what if kaya sa future the number of mixed marriages becomes so great that we get used to the culture and religion of other races/beliefs. Kagaya ngayon sanay na ang ibang families sa ugaling hapon , or like nung kinasal sa indian culture, or maybe like in the wedding where in different aspects of the weddings from both cultures where integrated.. I wonder if it were possible someday that a hindii and a catholic couple would be wed under one ceremony and pagaawayan lang nila eh nakalimutan kasi ng isa bumili ng diaper. That would certainly cool.. well malamang somewhere in the world or kahit sa pinas ginagawa na to. Biruin mo Catholic and Muslim Wedding tapos magkikita ang magkakamaganak tapos parang wala lang dedma.. tuloy tuloy lang ang kwentuhan at tawanan during reception. I mean that would be the coolest.. because of the love of 2 persons , the gap between culture or religion would be forgotten. Cool siguro.. Ala lang far out thinking lang.
