Thought for the Day

"When I was young, I avoided being caught by my dad slacking off and not studying. Now I hope my dad doesnt go online and finds me still online in the office late at night, as he would probably tell me to go home and rest or go slacker off" - Buhay IT

Having a bad day - CONTEST

First let me get to my bad day ,then the contest.

Have you ever had a bad day or bad days happen every now and then. It kinda creeps up on you then BAM! Its Bad day time. My friend , Neil , once told me that Bad days either happen on just one days or in threes, so if crap happens the 2nd day just be ready for the 3rd.

Today seems like one of those and I hope it just a single one. I didnt stay up late last night, got home around 12, watch dvd , set the alarm then slept as opposed to other days where I would be partying late into the night. This morning I woke up at 845 totally missing my 8-9am class, turns out I set the alarm at 7 but forgot to switch it on.. strike 1. Then I rushed to the 2nd class, and screwed the formatting of a harddisk I was teaching, turns out I was using a too new harddisk with a too old operating system.. and the hits keep coming. On the way to the mall while waiting for the traffic light to turn green, I missed on the clutch and had the engine died on me, this asshole on a KIA freakin PICANTO just honked and honked at me, I wouldnt be pissed normally if it was rush hour but it was on a saturday so I customarily Flipped him a nice old Fuck you hand signal in the car and from the window. He even had the nerve to try to speed up, I wanted to toast him as my car was hell faster than his, but I was on my way to the mall so I couldnt do it, I had to turn to the parking area pretty quick. On the mall , parking was pretty easy, so I went into a parking slot going headfirst and wanting to emerge at the next slot in front so my car would be facing outward.. suprise there was a car backing up exactly where I wanted to go, he had right of way so I just backed up. Went to a local DVD store and it was still closed, I went to a cellphone repair shop to pickup my aunts phone, the technician wasnt there. I went to my favorite resto where they have kickass Tapsilog...CLOSED on weekends, went to another goot Tapsilog place, got my order pretty quick but forgot to order drinks, took another 10minutes for drinks. Then a bunch of students suddenly went in the place and where reaallly noisy. Went back to the DVD place, finally opened.. ok things are looking up there and got a good deal on the stuff I returned , plus I saw Maritoni Fernandez who is a regular at the same DVD shop. Went back home and wanted to watch Tokyo Drift.. suprise!! It wont work on my machine... So I just ended up doing my other chore which was to sweep the house.. suprise!!! The construction guys who worked on the house used the dust pan outside and left it there..it was wet with rocks... Then my friend Lea texted me..looking for a gimik..so I said OK , dont have anyhting to do might as well.. did this long argument with here for here to meet me in makati..which I lost . From the parking lot, I forgot my cellphone in the car so I had to go back to the car .

I am at the office now to finish up some documents I didnt do last week, then Lea sent me a message cancelling our gimik how crappy is that... And Im feeling a bit chilly, Im hoping its not a fever. As of this writing ,the day is not yet over and the sun is just about to set. I hope the sun takes all the badluck with it ... Im definitely hoping. I've had worst days so the best I could do is to just laugh this one off and be very careful.

So..I Decided.. I would have a mini contest, The reader who could comment the worst bad day experience will win a Coffee treat from me at Gloria Jeans The fort :) Tsaka half na cheescake slice..kasi yung kalahti sa kin hehehe.

If this post doesnt save or I Suddenly lose net connection... I wouldnt be at all suprised.

Random Thought for The Day

Why is it that most internet cafe's in metro manila don't have coffee.

UST Revisited

I did a Pre-Nup Shoot at UST just this weekend , and I was terribly suprised on how much things has improved. The front of the main building is now a big plaza with a tiled floor and antique looking lamp posts complimenting the building. Even the back of the building was made into a big plaza type area , gone where the bamboo plants and places where we use to study and copy assignments on. Things have really changed , only thing missing where pigeons landing on the street to give it that European feel.

The UST hospitals facade was changed to give it a newer look and the front of the hospital was changed to a multilevel parking with Mall type stores in front. The Back of the Library was also changed, gone where the statues of the priests instead they where building a students center at the back. Things have really changed since I last went there.

Speed Dating in Makati

Yes I saw it in the movie hitch, I also saw it in the movie the 40yr old virgin, then I saw it in clickthecity.com so I couldnt let this opportunity pass to try something new... Speed Dating.

The event was organized by 6degrees events , an events company who has sponsored quite a few speed dating round already. The fee was P800 inclusive of a modest buffet dinner including drinks. It was held at Sommerset Bldg at the club lounge.

The mechanics: there where 15 guys and 15 girls in the event, all from various age groups and backgrounds. All guys would be sitting in one end of the room , and the girls on the other at the start of the actual speed dating event, each guy would be given 3 minutes to talk to each girl , once the 3 mintues are up a bell would ring and you would have to move to the next girl, for each guy/girl the participant checks on a scoresheet wether he/she would like to get to know the person more or not. At the end of the whole round when each dater has talked to one another , they would submit the scoresheet and the organizers would match each scoresheet. If both of daters checked on "Yes" to one another, the organizers would release the contact info to each dater.

So How did I fair? I at least had 1 match from the 5 or 6 I wanted to date again. I guess Im too rusty or I went about this all wrong.. or baka naman talagang di ako type..siguro minus points na rin ang age ko since 2 lang ata sa chineckan ko ang a little bit above or below ng age range ko then the rest.. 21-23 yrs old. Anyway at least I had one match so di pa naman ako ganon kahina.

Would I recommend the whole schindig to friends..yes definitely , but I dont think its a good idea to come there expecting.. I mean imagine I you ended up with 0 matches..that kinda gonna suck at least ako me 1pt . So if its not your thing to mingle with people or if your the kind of person who doesnt handle rejection or easily gets low self esteem then speed dating is not for you. Dont do it.

But why do I recommend it?, well I consider it as a social exercise .. I mean where else can you practice your socializing skills or get to know a little of something from 15 different people in the span of 45 minutes. As a kid, everytime we would pass by houses while in the car, I would try to peer into their windows , I'm intrigued by the different stories they could tell. Going to various countries or various photo gigs I love knowing the small trivial stories about different people, so getting to speak to 15 different people plus some of the guys I chatted with while waiting was quite fascinating for me. The variety of participants was really good as well, not for dating I guess but for conversation it was. There was a participant who I think was about 40-50 yrs old, when I approached her, I said to myself "dito makikita kung gaano ka kagaling chumika" since she was definitely a completely different social circle, more of my mom's. Well hopefully I held my ground and kept the 3 minutes at least interesting for her. There were lawyers, Cll center supervisors, clerks, a bunch of IT professionals , a fashion designer etc. All with a different story to tell.

I wonder why out of the 5 people I checked , only 1 checked me as well. So this is another good thing that came out of this , it allows you to experiment and check yourself with no long term effects , for me anyway. Aside from age, kasi di ata ako nakapagfocus well enough sa mga nakakausap ko kasi after 1 or 2 conversations parang mechanical na lang dahil sa bilis ng pacing. Plus ang training ko sa office is more with dealing with business clients , not with social functions. Siguro yon nga.. I dont usually join social prties madalas business functions..so sa business functions magaling ako chumika baka ganon ..nadala ko ang chika mode ko for business which is bland and full of small talk sa speed dating.

Would I do it again? Yes, just to see if I would improve or not or baka me makilala na other peeps, plus the stories I get and the variety of people you meet is quite interesting..its something to blog about. Kung medyo tinotopak ako sabi ko nga sa friend ko eh baka next time pwede ako maging not my usual goodie goodie self , baka mas tumaas ang hit rate ko pagganon...parang experiment . Anyway siguro pag naisipan ko bigla uli But it definitely is quite a different experience.

New Fashion is not for all

I try my best to try new things , and things that are new...labo no. I tell myself if I stop trying new things, new trends, new ideas I would be caught in a time warp and succumb to generation gap and all the other things that comes with age. Para bang yung mga taong nagsasabi na the best pa rin ang 80's music tapos panay new wave lang ang sounds ..so my motto is to always move forward.

So I did, I bought new LOW RISE jeans for men. On women , I think this is a fashion trend sent from heaven.. women now love wearing them and they wear it really low. Parang tumaas rin ang kita ng Gillette simula ng mauso to. At mga nakalabas ang mga thongs at kung anu ano pa...every now and then..biglang me sumisilip pa. So I bought these new jeans, maganda ang color, me embroidery sa bulsa, they were suppose to be "Rocker" jeans. Ok.. But definitely it isnt comfy for me, I bet bagay to sa mga slim at buffed ..indi bagay sa kagaya kng Cute and Witty. So sa mga friends ko na nagiisip din na mag low waist.. mga dude... stick to Regular Straight hehehe.
