Pinoy pop legends

Just a few hours ago I met some new friends , one of them was Ha, Chris Ha who turns out to be the son of the founder of kowloon. The Guy who invented the Jumbo Pao! Now that was something cool. My friend mike brought along 2 other friends coz i was teaching photoshop , what were the odds of meeting Chris. OK its not as if I met the inventor itself pero what are the odds. So ano ngayon eh di pag nameet ko ang mayari ng northpark at hapchan eh blablog ko din? Well ang difference is Kowloon for me ay angat na to pop culture legend status. Since 70s pa yun at dinadayo talaga siopao nila. Naimbento nila ang jumbo pao! Actually , im hoping my titas and dad got this story right, ang yaya ko non (nax sossy may yaya) ay kapatid naman ng nagimbento ng ube cake. Every birthday ko dadalhan ako ng ube cake from lola luring , ang labandera / yaya ng mga lola ko, which turns out eh inimbento ng kapatid ni lola luring. As the story goes binenta ng kapatid nya ang recipe sa merced bakeshop. trivia yan.

So ano pa ba ang mga sinasabi kong original pop culture legends natin? Andyan ang: (correct me if im wrong)

of course marami like pearl shake , shawarma, etc pero tong mga to naman eh imported na kinopya lang so popculture icons yan kaso ginaya lang. Para maging original pop culture icon ang product mo for me, dapat it has to be deeply rooted na sa mga pinoy na akala natin hunders of years ng meron and part of our history na pero hindi pala plus of course invention nga. it would be cool kung malist ang mga yon tapos ma track down ang mga inventors...

Davao - Ganda ng City!!!!

3 Weeks ago I went to Davao. I was so lucky that I had my cousin ,who didnt report to work just to bring us around the city .

We had a blast, food was great, air was great, people were friendly plus my cuz and his wife was there to tour guide us... Grabe, white water rafting was the bomb!

Before I went to Davao the thing that always stuck on the news was that the mayor there ruled the city with an iron hand so people always followed the law, which sounded kinda negative. Then I got to Davao and Davao was great, they didnt have the skyline that Metro Manila had, but they had their share of malls, lots of restos, accessible natural attractions , and one of the cleanest cities I've been to.
Surprisingly , public service actually worked to the convenience of people. They had a 911 call facility where the police, firefighters or ambulances would respond actively and timely. Philippine public service timely?!! They had a park open until late in the evening ,well lit ,and people actually enjoying themselves without fear of getting mugged. The Cleanliness is where I raise my hands in salute for this City, they have the plastic coleman type trashcans on the side of the road which normally in manila would get stolen, garbage is all segregated even in residential houses and everything gets collected on time. I didn't even see much street sweepers around as well. Imagine this, a Recto or Quiapo kinda place,or the old chinese business and wet market district , then its 6pm so everything just closed, but no trash around. No pieces of plastic and stuff , not even durian skin. Astig!

I gotta give it to Davao, and places like Marikina as well. They really did a good job of shedding the 3rd world city lifestyle. Their city government know what theyre doing and what needs to be done. Para kang wala sa Pinas. Applause applause to Davao.

Hindi si Jaworski ang ibig kong sabihin the Legend, di rin si Will Smith. Naisip ko lang, sana kagaya sa mga movies, yung tipong me pinganak na prophesized to bring peace and rule over the land to fulfill the legend ng pilipinas na inukit sa bato at dahon ng buko. Parang ganon.. me isang darating na ruler out of the ashes at gulo tapos he will bring balance to the force (cue orchestra for dart vader music).

Bat ko naisip? Nagbabasa ako ng article sa isang email, the article listed down the cost per kilometer ng mga railway project worldwide. Ang sa pilipinas na cost is double the cost per kilometer ng mga trains faster and more efficient. So obvious na may lokohan. Sama na natin lahat ng scandal and yet bat wala pa rin overpowering public outcry. Me mga nag rereklamo sa rallies kaso my opinion eh parang sinigaw sa hangin pero scattered ang mga sigaw. My opinion is that , dahil walang leader.. walang unifying person to rally with parang conductor ng orchestra at susundan ng lahat. Buti n alang kamo at ang galing ng pinoy at di na nagkamali twice. Nung edsa 2 kasi , unite lahat kasi gaya ng edsa 1 , effective.. kaso yun nga hindi gaya ng edsa 1 walang leader. Si Gloria eh coincidental lang.. hindi sya ang talagang pinili ng tao na pumalit nung edsa 2. Kaya di na uulit talaga.. Di rin pwede naman yung mga so called leaders ng rallies na obvious eh kaya nila gusto umalis si GMA para sila pumalit.. eh di wala rin tayo..sayang effort kung papalit rin eh sablay.

Kaya ayan naisip ko..sana dumating na ang the legend ang taong susundan at talagang me kayang i-lead ang bansa natin. Yung magaling at hindi magnanakaw. Haaay. Actually kaya ko naisip to kasi nakita ko ang ITR ko.. lintek lahat ng binayad ko dyan eh malamang pinang Classmate ng isang gagong senador at pinambili ng louis vuitton ng asawa nya.

bb. Pilipinas World chenes

eto , di ako nakatiis , makikiuso na rin ako sa Issue ng Bb. Pilipinas World winner.. eto ang opinion ko.. Hopefully manalo sya sa best in swimsuit at miss friendship para masabi nya sa mga nangliliit sa kana.. pakyu kayo asan ba ang mga candidates nyo dati.. me award ba sila. Kahit miss friendship lang.. naisip ko although di ko naman kilala si Janina... Malay natin mabait sya kasi she showed such bubbly innoncence nung tinanatanong sya.. eh mabait talaga sya ..parang lahat ng tao kinakausap at binabati.. yung ganong tipong tao ba. Eh mas ok na rin yon kesa sa mga nakaksaling medyo smart pero bitchy pala. Sana nga eh mabait sya para ok lang nanalo sya.

Oldies but Goodies

I was in Mugen bar in metrowalk watching a showband with a friend of mine who just came back from china. As usual there where call center groups, the celebrating a brithday group, the usual wanna get drunk group, the one of em just broke up group and the middle aged barkada going to cool places group.. oh plus me the basta mayaya sasama guy.

The first band was funny, the usual 90s hits plus a lot of funny spiels in between. The 2nd band was more modern , singing Neo , Riana etc. The 2nd band,Performance wise ,I found the band kinda so-so, all where individually talented but didnt look like they got good chemistry. Pero di yon ang blog ko.

So there it was , the 2nd band started singing fast , upbeat dance groups.. mga Neo, because of you. Spurts of people from different tables started standing up, yung sumasayaw solo solo dahil medyo tipsy na sa table nila , there where also people pulled into the stage, grind grind pa sila with the singer. Tapos sa far left napansin ko.. isang group , panay mommy and daddy looking, tipong someone who would look like your teachers.. mga late 40 to 50s na nakatayo sila tatlo tapos sway sway , todo sayaw sa silya. As in sayaw to the max sila , syempre ang ibang mas younger crowd tingin tingin pa sa kanila. They danced from start to almost finish of the whole set. Sa loob loob ko, grabe naman yung table na yon , ang tatanda na nila pasayaw sayaw pa sila ng ganon sa mga R&B, humahataw sa umbrella ni Riana. Indi naman kaya nila generation yon. Naisip ko talaga.. grabe naman yung mga yon.. ..... ANG COOL NILA! Everyone was partying and so did they, kami sa silya nga namin indi nakatayo at sumasayaw sayaw eh. When I grow old thats how I'd like to be, still rocking away with an open heart and free spirit. Or baka dahil me tama na rin sila..nevertheless.. coool pa din. cheers to the teachers group.
