Eraserheads -The reunion - Abrupt Ending

Just came from the eraserheads reunion concert. It started with Alapaap, the band rising from stage like a phoenix from the fire. There were pyrotechnics and dazzling displays at the background . For the longest time I can remember, it was probably the biggest local band concert in the country. It filled up the fort open grounds!, not even beyonce was able to do that. A band with all original songs who spearheaded a genre of their own, singing songs using the ordinary mans language straight from the heart , songs gen X and Y grew up to. Finally a band that filipinos paid to see that beat the foreign acts. All 4 of em was there, 15 songs was sang, there was kailan, shake your head, sem break, alapaap, with a smile, kamasutra, toyang ..forgot the others, everythings still a blur. Everysong by the band, I fell in nostalgia of a decade past. After 15 songs the band rested, a 20min break was announce for people to run to the restrooms and buy more food.. time to make some more money for the vendors.. Thirty? Maybe 40 minutes past, still no show, then the whole band came up on stage except one, Elys Sister was introduced, she read a letter, Ely was rushed to the hospital, the concert is ending , the stress of his mothers death and the concert itself has took its toll. The Promoter went on stage, asked for a minute of silence to pray for ely to be well, then that was that. The drama before the show started, ended with more drama.. The show still rocked, heck I think it was the best pinoy concert for the decade unless someone tops it in the remaining 2 yrs. It was well worth it, even if it didnt finish, get well soon ely.

Improv Theater - SPIT

I was looking at different websites of bars trying to see gigs of bands. I went to the Mag:net website, Mag:net is a bar in Katipunan who shows bands, indie movies, art exhibits etc and has a new branch at the Global City High Street area, looking at the gigs I chanced upon a gig by SPIT(Silly People's Improv Theater). Improv?! first time I saw an improv show in the Philippines. I love watching that show , whose line is it anyway by Drew Carry, sobrang laugh trip tsaka idol ko sa bilis magisip. Ako pang one liner comebacks palang ang kaya ng powers ko, sila .. Story na! Anyway, I didnt pass the chance to see an improv show here specially because the place was so near my office.

Entrance was P200 each , with one free beer or ice tea. The place was cool, at the back of nike , it had magazines for sale, artworks hanging (im not sure if its for sale) and food and drinks was around 100-300 each kaso badtrip walang cheese sticks, Wine and cheese stick lang naman ang habol ko.. wala pa.

Anyway the show starts at around 930-10pm , I think its every tuesday but it could be just for june. We got there late , show has already started. There were around 10 men and women on stage, I think I've seen some of them in movies or plays tapos yung isa sa kanila umalis sandali, then the audience gave 5 uncommon words to the rest of the troupe. Pagbalik nung lalaki, pinahulaan sa kanya ang 5 words pero it has to be done via song which normally had to rhyme. As usual nakalimutan ko naa ng details, pero words that I rememberd where Atrium, Hologram, Seduction and Apathy. Medyo nahirapan lalo na sa Apathy plus kailangan pang kantahin.. pero nakuha rin all 5 words. Yung isang part naman, mag jojoke sila parang bulagaan.. like "Anung hayop ang palaging bumabagsak" parang ganon (Ans:Dog!), pero the audience would give the category, ang binigay na category - Countries , Bar Drinks and Teen Pop stars. Another segment is another guys goes out and when he comes back he is to take the troupe hostage , the crowd has to provide what's the guys weapon, transpo and cause. The guy has to guess the stuff the crowd provided with the help of the hostage. There also a portion where they pretend to be a 3 headed fortune teller and had to speak one of the other one word each. They had to answer questions from the crowd.

Overall it was a funny evening and I enjoyed the whole show. There were some really witty remarks thrown out that night which brought the house down. Its nice to see comedy not resorting to defamation rin.. I guess pa-evolve na ng paevolve tayo, I bet pag nagclick ang SPIT may gagaya sa other comedy bars ng ganun, na hindi na magreresort sa panlalalit para magpatawa. Nothing like money to motivate change. Anyway more power pa sa SPIT and sana marami pang gaya nila ang lumabas.
